ELIZABETH BERG

I just finished another amazing book by Elizabeth Berg. She is one of my favorite writers. She writes with such detail and develops her characters so carefully it is if you know each one personally. It is always hard to say good-bye to them at the end of the book. This last book was "Everyone is welcome here".

The snow is still falling. Now what is coming down are big and bigger flakes. Of course it is quite pretty like being inside a snow globe. It started falling very early this morning before we even got up. It has not stopped all day and it to continue into the night. My husband will not be able to go to the job site tomorrow morning as it is in the hills. So his job will be delayed. But that means he will be home with me, which is always fun.

I decided to make pizza for dinner tonight. I should have taken a roast out of the freezer to put in the slow cooker. Tomorrow we will have slow cooker something. So pizza it is for this evening. I have the dough rising as I type.

I am sitting in my new office chair and typing on my new keyboard. The keyboard and mouse are wireless and they operate so nicely. The chair fits me perfectly and is decked out in black soft genuine leather with pewter trim and is very handsome. So now we have a brown leather computer chair up for grabs. I wanted to put it out on the street with a sign that said FREE. However with the snow that will not work. I just tucked in the guest room for now and I have decided to take it to St. Vinney's. along with all the other items I must take soon.

Well I have nothing to chatter about as you have probably already suspected.
I will see you tomorrow.

PHILOSOPHY

Do you ever wonder why you are with the one you love? Well I think you should.
I truly believe that the ones we connect with in this life we planned to be with for what ever reason. I suppose the first big question is, have we lived before and will we will live again?  If you believe this it enlightens you in a particular way. You know then you have choices and another life to rectify those choices if you make mistakes, though ultimately you must pay for any mistakes when you hurt others. That is Karma.

I know I believe that my husband and I were meant to be together in this lifetime. Though we are years apart in age, I being the older by eighteen years, there really is no difference. My husband seems the older partner and takes care of our daily lives. I am his wife, adoring, caring, tending to his needs, but I still hold knowledge he yet does not have. I know much more about life from just living it longer.
We give to one another what each of us lacks. He gives to me to the encouragement to go forward to think young to apply myself to new thoughts and to keep myself physically young. I give to him wisdom telling him about what I have endured and how to be strong and what I have learned. So there is an exchange of thoughts as well as knowledge. And you know what? It works.
I would not change this relationship for any relationship I could imagine.
We are true partners in life. I am quite sure we have been together before in another time. As for this lifetime we have been together for 32 years and it is like we read each others minds.
Just today I was thinking the very thing that he said in the next moment. How does that happen? Why is it that when we are apart for a few days or a week when he is working long periods of time and we plod along with our daily tasks, and then he has a day or two off and we are so happy? It is like it is a party. I am just saying there is something going on here.

Why do we feel so attracted to someone in our lives and that person has made a huge difference in our life? Why have we throughout our lifetimes met people who have just seemed to fit where others have not? I know the theory is like attracts like, but still sometimes we feel like we know this person already.
Also there are people that we have met in grammar school, high school, etc these people still mean so much to us especially as we get older. Is this just a random thing? I do not think so.
I think there are no accidents. Nothing that makes an important statement in our life is accidental. Just think about that?
Maybe that is all I need to say at this point, but just think about what I just wrote.
I believe there is a plan and it may be simpler than any of us thought. Maybe it is just knowing we are a soul with a body and we go on and on as energy never dies. So we do live again, and again and again in different scenarios, different bodies to keep working things out until we get it right. We need to be open to this.
It takes all kinds of kinds to fill this earth. So how can we judge one another? We cannot not, no one is any better than the other. I believe we are all just walking our path of life and learning to become as perfect as we can be so that someday we can be with God and quit coming to earth to learn lessons.

I will leave you now to chew on this. Of course everyone is free to believe how they wish that is why I am not afraid to say what I believe. I am no better or worse than anyone on this planet. Love is what life is about.

BABE IN ARMS

I was a babe in arms here and it appears I was trying to wriggle loose of those arms. I am with my father Arthur, mother Marta and brother Jack it is summer 1942. I was about three months old. So cute Mom in her hat and Jack in his beanie. This was our house in Vader WA. When the folks moved there Dad bought the best house in town and in fact he bought the whole block. Well if you have ever to been Vader you would understand it is a very tiny berg but very pretty area. My grandma, my fathers mother lived there is why they settled there from San Diego, via the east coast.

So today I planned to be off to the grocery store early and to run errands but my hubby called soon as after he left for the job site. There were problems with the electrical there and he could not plug in his sander. He needs 220 power for that and that circuit was shot. So he is home for two days. So we will have a little fun.
We are going to get the groceries together, this is not necessarily good as hubby has a tendency to toss things in the cart and I go strictly by my list. Then we are off to the Steelhead Brewery for lunch. One of my hubby's fave places to go for a pint. So I will drive us home. They have good pub grub and it will get me out of the house as I probably will not venture out the next few days as storms are to come in.

So here it is later in the evening. My husband is in the hot tub I choose not want to take one it is so cold out and I would love to but it makes me feel so tired the next day.
We had a good day spending money...laugh. Well as I surmised extra items were being tossed into the grocery cart by hubby that I was racing away with. Run fast Zo!
Then onto the Office Max. Good heavens, I sort of mentioned to my husband I needed a comfy chair for the computer. Well we have two chairs in the office at this point. There is one we have had for a number of years, it so hard to sit on, it has really bottomed out, the other one was once a nice leather chair we bought from my hubby's niece who is in Edinburgh Scotland at this time. Well the chair has never fit me and has given me a backache ever since we bought it. But we wanted to buy it from her and give her the price she asked as we wanted to help her gather money for her trip abroad. So it is what it is.
So today we came home with a new wonderful leather chair that fits me to so perfectly. Then we bought a new keyboard for our computer. We surely needed to do this as the letters were worn off the keys of our current one.  I can manage but it is hard for my husband and some of the keys stick besides. We have a new wireless mouse also.  So needed things were added to our office which I so appreciate.
Then we were off to lunch. So it was a full afternoon.
Now as hubby soaks in the tub I will return some emails and then I am off to get cozy clothes on and sprawl on the sofa to doze and watch the tellie.
It was a nice full day shared with the love of my life. I feel so blessed.
Ah..... time to relax.

PIONEER WOMAN'S BROCCOLI CHEESE SOUP

After looking through my fridge and pantry I decided on the Pioneer Woman's cheese broccoli soup. The recipe looks amazing. So I will report tomorrow how good this soup is. I think it will be perfect this evening with the hot biscuits or dinner rolls.

So back to my day the temps are still dropping and the furnace is running almost non-stop. Another high power bill....ouch! The last cold stint we went through the power bill for the month was over $250. This past bill was lower coming in at $200. But still as we pay water and sewer on top of that at $65.00 it is a lot for utilities a month.

Tuesday AM. The soup was so creamy and cheesy. It was extra good as the biscuits and honey along side was mouthwatering. If you want to try this recipe just goggle, broccoli cheese soup and click on the Pioneer woman. It was a little time consuming by the time I made the soup and the biscuits from scratch but you could just have a boule or french baguette to toss in the oven, or simple sourdough toast.

I have a lot to accomplish today so I am making rigatoni tonight with a salad of mixed greens and creamy Italian dressing. I could make Italian pasta dishes blindfolded.

The house was colder this morning even though the heat had been on for a while. You can tell what we are in for the next few days. I will go tomorrow rather than Thursday to get my groceries and run my errands. Thursday is going to be brutally cold for the valley.

I have so much office work today I will just have to muddle through it. Even though I have been doing a fairly good job of keeping up with it somehow I have still fallen behind.

I have been drinking tea instead of coffee. I think I mentioned that before. It is so much easier on my tummy I love not having stomach upsets. However I miss the stronger wham of caffeine that coffee has over tea. I have just finished two cups of tea and still feel lethargic. That is not the case with coffee I feel activated but with a tummy ache......darn.

I better get to my day before I fall asleep.
See ya.

OVER THE HILL

Seems as if I was just there, "over the hill" where does that put me now?
I remember this day so well. I was at work at Wall Street Interiors in Bend. At the end of the day my co-workers had crazy gifts for me and we all shared some nice wine. Then they took me over to my favorite Italian restaurant Sully's. All my other friends were gathered there waiting.  There was a long table with more over the hill balloons and more gifts. They must have been about twenty of us. My boss and friend Jacqueline bought my meal and drinks and then after dinner a beautiful cake was presented to me and yes it was loaded with 50 candles. It was a very special evening for me and it was wonderful to be in the company of all my dearests friends. To think that was almost 22 years ago amazes me as sometimes it seems like yesterday I was a designer working at Wall St. Interiors. I worked there for four years full time then worked part time for Jackie doing store display and doing a few model homes a year. I could not work full time any longer as I was helping my husband build homes and market them. So part time work was perfect.
I still keep in touch with some of my friends in Bend. A great bunch of women to enjoy life with.

The cold is approaching us at this time. You can feel the temps dropping. We are having an Arctic blast come over us. By Wednesday it will be into the teens once again at night.  It will remain that way until the later part of the weekend when a pacific front will collide with the remains of the Arctic blast and could possibly bring us freezing rain or snow. Lets hope that does not happen!
My husband will be working in the Coburg hills over the weekend so we do not want icy roads as his work van would not do well in those conditions.

I am tired today as my hubby did not sleep last night and was in and out of bed several times. I am a light sleeper so I am disturbed by every little movement or noise. So therefore we both felt wiped out when we crawled out of the warm flannel sheets this morning at 5:45 AM.  I so would have loved to stay in bed and snooze.

I think I am going to make a pot of some kind of soup today and make my mile high biscuits to go with. I will have to see what the fridge and pantry hold and go from there.
Our mexican fare last night was very good. There are some remains so I will fix myself a taco salad for lunch today.

So the Seahawks won the Superbowl. I am happy for my Washington family they were thrilled beyond happy. My great niece Jana who lives in Edmonds Wa. had her two little  sons four and one dressed in all the Seahawk gear she could get on their bodies. She sent photo's they were cute and the boys seemed so excited. Fans already!!!

Well I have typical Monday chores today and then I must spend time in the office. So I will leave this now.

YUM

I am so hungry for a doughnut right now but do not want to mess with making them. Doughnuts are one of my favorite bad for treats.

We had a fun afternoon and evening.
Hubby got home early and we took care of the trailer as it is to get very cold at night again. Then we sat in the sun on the deck, yes you heard right. There was no breeze and it was very nice indeed to have that winter sun soak into our skin. Later we played two games of Wii golf. I won both games...go Zo!
Then we made a dinner of panini's. Neither of us were very hungry so we did not want to make a meal. Later after our sandwiches had somewhat digested we went for a soak in the hot tub. I do not take a hot tub often as it makes me feel kind of icky at times. But I did go in with hubby and it was so lovely out. A broken clouded sky with just enough moonlight to fill in the cracks with light. I stayed in about forty minutes. My limit.
Regardless I feel tired today so I blame it on the spa.

So game day. A big day for lots of folks. Of course I want the Seahawks to win as they are a northwest team. But do I really want to watch the game? Nope. I really care less about NFL but of course my husband is anxious to watch the game and is excited about it. Sometimes I really wonder if it is the event of the game or the snacks and food that he delights in. Anyhow mexi fare today.

It is a fairly nice mild day here in Eugene.
They are a few pale gray clouds about but some blue sky also. I love that there is no fog or wind.
I am going now to the shower. It is after eleven and I am still in my cozy clothes as we call them.
If I am lucky I will have time to read for a while until the game starts.

Have a super Super bowl Sunday!!!!!

TURKEY BURGERS

We had turkey burgers last night. Oh they were so juicy and tasty.
I used Trader Joe's turkey burgers, 4 to a pack frozen for 4$. A good deal as they are big and made with white and dark turkey meat. The flavor is there! Loaded them with the usual but white cheddar instead of yellow.
We had a great evening, listening to music, having our dinner and very good bottle of red wine and game playing. We are content at home for the most part entertaining ourselves but we are looking so forward to our next trip to the coast with the trailer.
Speaking of trailer the temps are going to drop again at night into the 20's. So today when hubby gets home we are winterizing the trailer again, just blowing the lines out and winterizing the traps. It is no big just takes a short while.
I wish the weather were not getting brittle again. It does sound like we will have sun through instead of fog, so that is an improvement.

Well much to do so had better get to it.
